Abu Dhabi, 17th December 2024: In line with the Year of Sustainability, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has achieved a new accomplishment by winning 1st Runner Up in the 17th Cycle of the Arabia CSR and Sustainability Awards 2024, within the Large Public Sector category. This win is a continuation of the EAD’s success after winning the 2nd Runner Up in the previous cycle, reflecting EAD’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainability and social responsibility in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and the region.
His Highness Engr. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasim Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Ras Al Khaima, presided over the ceremony that awarded the accolade, honouring distinguished institutions in various sectors for their significant contributions to sustainability. The prestigious Arabia CSR and Sustainability Awards 2024 are an important tool to motivate institutions to take proactive steps towards a sustainable future and to support their environmental and social responsibility efforts.
Strict criteria, such as integrating sustainability, positively impacting society and the environment, and achieving a balance between economic, social, and environmental goals, led to EAD’s selection as winner. The criteria also included innovation in enhancing the efficiency of resource use, protecting biodiversity, and adopting advanced environmental policies that contribute to sustainable development.
Commenting on this achievement, Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, said: “Winning the Arabia CSR and Sustainability Awards for the second year in a row reflects our deep commitment to the values of social responsibility and sustainability and is evidence of our ongoing efforts to preserve the environment and achieve sustainable development through our various projects and initiatives. Organised by Arabia CSR Network, the award is the first platform of its kind in the region to honour organisations that adopt social responsibility and sustainability practices, and one of the most credible and prestigious regional awards.
