At the core of everything we do at EAD is strong regulation and policy – it provides the critical backbone to our work.
We leverage innovation, research and international best practices to strengthen and enforce environmental laws.
Our recent policies – which are based on 25 years of data and scientific evidence – have focused on biodiversity, waste, air quality and ambient marine water quality.
We set the environmental direction for government, businesses and the community – without compromising Abu Dhabi’s growth and development.
- We developed the Abu Dhabi Environment Policy Agenda to set policy direction for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
- We developed and implement our Eltezam Campaign which has helped in preventing and reducing the negative impact of urbanisation on the environment, by ensuring compliance to local environmental laws, international standards and best practice.
- We continue to strengthen legislation to mitigate the effects of climate change and adapt to its impact.
- We banned the use of the gargour, a traditional fishing method, which was a landmark decision.
