Amphibians and Reptiles

Amphibians and reptiles play a significant role in the ecosystem as both predators and prey.

By feeding on insects and other small invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles control these populations and maintain balance in natural ecosystems.

Reptilian movement in soil aids in the pollination of plants and dispersal of seeds, and their venom has, in certain cases, proven useful in the treatment of certain conditions.

Nearly 70 reptile and two amphibian species can be found in the UAE’s arid desert environment, including the rare Wonder Gecko, Monitor Lizard, Arabian Toad-Headed Agama, Sea Snakes and Green Turtles among others.
