Abu Dhabi’s waters are home to a diverse range of fish but findings have revealed that the Emirate’s fish stocks are severely over-exploited, with several key species in need of targeted rehabilitation.
To address the challenge, EAD is working on a multi-layered approach, including raising awareness of commercial and recreational fishermen, enhancement of regulatory and compliance frameworks, and restriction of fishing for certain species, especially during the spawning season.
